Credit Union One Offers Green Incentive
5-01-08
Due to recent efforts to become environmentally and economically conscious, Credit Union One of Oklahoma encourages its members and the community to go green.
Beginning May 1st, Credit Union One will be the only credit union in the city to offer a 0.5% interest rate reduction* on all environmentally friendly vehicles, saving the buyer $200 to $300 over the course of the loan. In addition to Credit Union One’s incentive, there are Federal and Oklahoma State Tax credits available with qualified cars, potentially giving buyers up to $4900 in tax credits depending on the make and model of the vehicle. For a full list of accepted green vehicles, visit www.epa.gov/greenvehicles.
“Buying a fuel efficient vehicle would only add to the members’ benefits,” William C. Lavin, Credit Union One President/CEO, said. “We want to show how much we care about the environment and our members. The program will help improve the economy in Oklahoma while helping to improve our environment as well. If even one person takes advantage of our new program, we are making a positive impact on this state.”
Dustin Haffner, Credit Union One Executive Vice President, added, “We expect ‘green cars’ to become more and more popular over the next few years.” According to www.fuelgaugereport.com, over the past ten years, gas prices have went up nearly 290 percent with a high at $3.45 a gallon in Oklahoma today.
A few popular green cars are the Audi A4, Jeep Compass and the Ford Escape. The Audi A4 ranked among the best in the J.D. Powers quality ratings and gets 30 miles per gallon. According to fuel economy database, Jeep Compass gets 27 miles per gallon and has a high safety rating. The Ford Escape, which gets 30 miles per gallon, scored average on both safety and quality ratings.
